I've come from Versailles, where everything is grand and everything is magnificent!

apperently that is a quote about Versailles...
So Heather and I have been in Paris for a couple of days now and we figure that it was time to catch everyone up on what we have been doing

We have been to the Louvre and seen the Mona Lisa... amoung many other beautiful works of art. We are sad though because the day we went we were so low on energy that it was not nearly as great as it could have been.
The same day that we did the Louvre we also visited Notre Dame. That some day after a 5 hour nap back at the hostel we visited the Arc de Triomphe and the Grande Arc for so night photography fun!

We have seen the Effiel Tower
Today we ventured out to Versailles via RER. It is one of the most amazing buildings we have ever seen and a highlight of the trip thus far. We can now understand why there would have been a pesant's revolt!

Today I learnt about wearing a skirt in Europe the hard way:
1. do not walk over metro grates while wearing a skirt
2. one should not recline with legs on the seat across from you (even with crosses legs) on the train, unless you want a creepy french guy to come and sit next to you! No worries though, he did not try and talk to me and when I got my journal out and began writing, he got the point and got up and left.

I think that is about it for now!

Paris

well, we're here. so far, i dislike the keyboard here at the internet kiosk at the hostel, but other than that, paris is pretty great! we both slept reasonably well on the plane, but we are still running at about 4-5 hours of sleep in the last 30 hours. In fifteen minutes we can get into our room where we will nap, shower, and then go see some sights! also, we will be drinking cheap red wine, which we have seen for as little as 2 euros per bottle! it's also 27 degrees here! go moisture wicking travel clothes!

well, have fun back there in canada!

We're packed and ready to go. It looks like Michelle has more stuff than me (the blue and the red bag) but my bag seems to be heavier, so I guess that works out. The plan for tonight has always been to stay up all night so that we would sleep on the plane and ideally wake up semi-rested in Paris when we land at 9am Wednesday morning. That may or may not work out, but we do seem to be managing the staying up all night part. Michelle's dad will phone at 4am to let us know he's on his way, and then the adventure will begin.

I'm feeling a little nervous right now, that typical I'm-sure-I've-forgotten-something type feeling. Also, an incredible hunger has just now hit me and I'm going to have to see what Michelle has to eat in this place. Tomorrow we'll be drinking cafe au lait in Paris!

Europe Count Down: Day 4

It's 12:45 pm.... nothing to report thus far.
Oh wait! Michelle is getting her nose pierced today at 2.
That is something worthy of reporting.

Here is yet another picture of Michelle and Heather.
Here we are at Christina's birthday party.

Europe Count Down: Day 5

Today we went to MEC and blew fat wads of cash on sweet sweet gear.
We also sent out a facebook invitation to our friends to come to our going away party!
The goal of the party is to see everyone we love before we go, and also to have those people help us stay up until we leave for the airport... at 4:00am!
There will be movies and coffee, those who do not have to stay up all night are welcome to enjoy some libations.

Check back tomorrow for Europe Count Down: Day 4

We're Going To Europe!!!
